- Most grants require non-profit 501(c)3
or 501(c)6 tax exempt status, as approved by the IRS.
- Grant funds go to organizations,
not individuals.
- You'll need to be classified
as such or affiliated with one in order to apply for grant
funding.
- You'll also need a board of
directors, if applicable.
- Your application must demonstrate
that the organization has the capacity and resources to deliver
the service required by the funding source [not unlike a business
plan for a commercial loan application]
- You will need to have the capacity
for and a solid commitment to record-keeping, both during the
application process and the "term" of the grant.
