- Small Business Technology
Transfer Program
- It was established under the Small
Business Technology Transfer Act of 1992.
- The stated purpose of the program
is "...to use small businesses to stimulate technological
innovation".
- Five federal agencies participate,
including DOD, DOE, DHHS [NIG], NASA, & NSF.
- An applying small business finds
a technology partner institution and uses the STTR program to
transfer and commercialize.

Eligibility:
|
- Small businesses must team with
a university or federal laboratory in order to participate.
- You must have an intellectual property
agreement in order to proceed with the program.
- The registering business will receive
the funds; the partner organization is considered a subcontractor.
- The small business will perform
40% of the work; the partner will perform 30%.
