Anita Olme-Cranson moved back to the San Luis Valley from Summit County in June of 2003.  Olme was part of a very successful kitchen and bath design firm at the time of her relocation.  As there were no businesses offering such services in the San Luis Valley, Olme decided to open her own kitchen design firm.  Her first stop was the Business Support Center at Adams State College, where she began working with Business Advisor, Jason Neufeld.

Neufeld first assisted her in the creation of her business plan.  Olme received support from the Center in the areas of licensing and funding as well.  As the time came for Bristol Design to open, the two worked together to ensure that everything was in place legally for the business to open.  Neufeld directed Olme to a local micro-loan program, where she was approved for a loan.  With the loan funds, Olme will purchase capital equipment for the building, including a computer layout program and a full-size kitchen display room.

Due to the pioneering nature of her enterprise, Olme was very concerned about marketing her services.  The Business Support Center provided promotional guidance for Bristol Design.  Anita attended a local marketing seminar, which was sponsored by the Center.  She also received direct technological assistance from Neufeld in the way of web hosting, design, and promotion.

Olme began working on projects the very first month she started business.  She is very excited about getting the loan and the promotional activities she has engaged in.  She says she “wouldn’t have been able to do it” without the help of the Business Support Center.
